From high-end brands to emerging local designers, the black-and-white mix up is accessible, easy to wear and is now beginning to dominate the South African fashion industry.
With the trend being embraced by both retail stores and small independent designers, not only is there a need for more diversity in the market, but the need for consumers to become more aware of how to look after their latest buys. Thus, introducing Lukhanyo Mdingi’s unisex monochrome collection in collaboration with Skip.
Created specifically for the Skip Monochrome Pop-up show, Mdingi’s limited edition athleisure line has an authentic timelessness that offers you pieces that are “refined, modern and cohesive”.
Made from a combination of natural cotton and rugby-knit jersey fabrics, the collection was designed with the purpose of upholding the campaigns ideals of providing customers with the means to maintaining the quality of monochrome fabrics. The cotton is sustainable, renewable, and biodegradable, making it an excellent choice as an environmentally-friendly fiber throughout its entire product life cycle.
The collection’s minimalist approach to unisex fashion celebrates relaxed trousers / slacks, ribbed crew neck tees and fitted jerseys, as high-quality and timeless wardrobe essentials.
When asked about what he loved most about Skip’s new Perfect Range, Mdingi commented, “Definitely the longevity of the products. Looking at the darker detergent, it actually keeps and retains the dark tones of your garment. And then also, you have the detergent for white clothing which keeps the brightness and the freshness of your whites looking bright and clean.”
