The First Monday in May has officially passed, and it was very interesting to see that the whole world became fashion critics. Turns out everyone has something to say about the Met. Here are this years memorable red carpet looks:
Solange gave quite a memorable look for this years exhibit. If you’ve payed attention to her previous looks, she likes to use shapes. In the same fashion, she chose a structural Iris Van Herpen number. Without the the halo and the durag, the look is rather fashion forward, but God is in the details and in this case, he lives in that halo.
When you’re a two time Oscar winner, the theme doesnt apply to you. Frances McDorman showcased something different from the crosses, halos and trains. No one could tell who she was because of the head piece, and no, the look doesnt have to be Catholic. This is the best way to break the rules.
The queen of the Met Gala! As the co-chair of this exhibit, the whole world was waiting to see what she would walk the red parpet in, and the Maison Margiela papal crown and dress is excactly what a show stopper would wear. The whole world was excited to see her, so much so that a handful of artists posted their illustrations of what they predicted Rih would wear, we can say nobody was left disappointed.
Belcalis Almanzar and her baby bump STUNNED as mother-mary. This was a full circle moment for her and we are so glad she went to the Gala. She wore a custom Jeremy Scott design and this look is probably one of the best things to come out of 2018.
Her majesty, Madonna. Here’s a person who has lived long enough to know how to make the right choice when it comes to this years’ Met Gala theme. Madonna has been under fire a few times for appropriating the catholic religion before, this is where she should have graced the carpet as the holy ghost. She was, however performing and she did a stellar job at that, this look is also a memorable one for us.
