The highly anticipated unveiling of Moschino’s new Spring/Summer 2018 Eyewear Collection, for the first time in South Africa, at the Arque Bar in at the Sandton Sun. Proudly produced and distributed by Safilo Group, the Collection will only be available in South Africa at a handful of high-end opticians from March 2018, so the eclectic audience, including Rosette Ncwana, Ayanda Nhlapo, Gert-Johan Coetzee, Mampho Brescia, Vanessa Carreira, Terry Pheto, Sarah Langa and Lerato Kganyago were among the first to experience the edgy selection of sunglasses for SS18, alongside esteemed members of the media. An iconic luxury brand, founded in 1983 by Franco Moschino, the innovation of Creative Director Jeremy Scott’s vision has been interpreted throughout the Collections for the last five years; and with the intention to strengthen their accessory offering; 2018 presents an iconic Eyewear Collection; embodying the glamour and decadent luxury of the Italian Brand. A perfect combination of Italian heritage merged with a metropolitan street style; discerning luxury, paired with a playful attitude, the new styles are the true expression of the Fashion House. Making an impactful entrance, the avant garde ensemble of innovative siblings Manthe, Tebogo and Kokona Ribane, flanked by statuesque models Bisi, Chantelle, Huguette and Shante, dressed by Gert-Johan Coetzee; silenced the audience with the strong narrative of their sumptuous performance art piece, customized for Moschino. The edgy performance, effortlessly executed to a futuristic soundtrack ended, only to reveal the encased emcee and Safilo Group ambassador, Taryn Louch, in a sleek black suit, while models struck poses in the latest Moschino eyewear. With hair by GlamPalm, styled by Saadique, and makeup by Laura Mercier at Skins Cosmetics, the models and performers provided the perfect canvas for the Moschino eyewear. Storytelling is the most powerful way to put ideas into the world today and Moschino has woven the stories of their iconic elements into their selection of statement shades for the season. The innovative displays housed the new Collection, revealing a quartet of timeless key elements, the quintessence of Moschino’s image since 1983: including the Metal Logo, the Metal Bijoux Chains, the Metal Studs and the iconic Teddy Bear. The Collection is a bold and beautiful reflection of style personality, and whether you select the metal logo, which is Moschino’s timeless signature; both iconic and emblematic, with bold design fused with minimalism, to create extremely modern sunglasses; or the iconic bijoux chains which elevate the eyewear into jewellery, as precious, feminine and unique accessories. Whether you’re more rock ‘n roll than regal, like guests Tamara Dey and Da Les and go for the micro metallic studs, inspired by the most iconic Moschino garments and accessories, or you’re fun at heart like guest Khanya Mkangisa, and go for the timeless teddy bear mascot, which is one of the most important players, taking on a new role in every collection; there is something for every personality “to be true, bold and authentically herself” in this Collection. The color palette of the new Collection reveals a background of black and Havana, with gold metal finishing together with fundamental white, red and blue, as well as a more playful and glossy range of pink and fuchsia, plum and teal. Strong hints of gold pervade the entire collection, in the form of 3D logos, studs, chains and metal bars, and guests loved playing with the plethora of shapes, styles and finishes for their selfies. With the Martini Prosecco flowing, and Poppy Ntshongwana on the decks, Sandton Sun served a floating dinner of Italian inspired items. Stylish illustrations by the talented Nick Walsh, had guests playing to the camera with their signature shades, with a personalized sketch to take home. Guests were also generously gifted with their own shades from the Love Moschino Collection. Design inspired and brand driven, Safilo Group translates extraordinary design into excellence when it comes to their Eyewear Collections for 2018; and when you think iconic Eyewear, you’ll think Moschino.
