Black Coffee Goes back to basics & Nomzamo’s activism brought to question. Again!

This week’s entertainment news on Radio 702’s the Early Breakfast show with Relebogile Mabotja. Podcast from Radio 702

Moozlie unscathed and unbothered:

While the nation was worried about Moozlie, she was celebrating a “successful” campaign with VW and Dry Drive. It’s no lie that it is something to be celebrated: securing a deal with such a notable brand. It was a spirited campaign that opened a real conversation that needs to be had, but badly executed.

Had there been viral articles a few minutes after the video went viral and a press junket the following days with any outlet: be it on radio, TV, online or print media, to manage peoples emotions, this would have been a victorious campaign. Furthermore, the topic addressed by the Drive Dry campaign is an important one and fairly sensitive, considering the festive season just finished and there had been hundreds of car accidents that were reported during the time, it was a fresh cut and an official statement needed to be shared with a few news outlet to manage the aftermath.

Black Coffee goes back to basics:

Here’s a man who has always been a source of inspiration we all needed. From flying in and out of the country to showcase his music to the world, working with international producers we grew up listening to and sweeping pretty much every award he gets nominated for. He is living proof that you’re never too cool for school.

He took to Instagram “Dropped out of school to take care of myself then my family, seeing my 1st born son finishing high school, getting ready for University and everything else he has achieved as a young man has filled my heart with so much joy and gratitude now, I can go back studying this year.” He further shared that he has absolutely no idea how he will do this with touring, but “I’ll give it my best shot. Here’s to filling up my cup”

Nadia Nakai continues to make hertory:

This South African rapper’s star keeps rising. It’s indicative of the hard work she puts out, it is well deserved and fun to watch.

She took to social media for mountainous announcement, saying:

“I’m SOOO excited!!! I’ve been selected as 1 of the South African artists to showcase at @sxsw in Austin Texas in the United States!!!! I can’t wait!!!!!!!!!” Other artists who have performed at the South by South West music festival: Kid X, Kwesta and AKA.

Nomzamo Responds to Arthur Mafokate picture backlash:

The backlash was due to Nomzamo not being woven into the fabric and the tradition of the activism agenda – especially after being the cover star for Cosmopolitan’s August Activism Issue where words such as “feminist” and “female” were on the bodysuit she posed in!

Her stance as an activist was called into question, where people didn’t fully believe her to be a spirited activist. This implored one tweep to conjure up this tweet: “When has she ever represented anything besides her looks?”

This conversation was revisited after she took a picture with a man who went on trial for assaulting his then girlfriend. Before twitter could cancel her, she took to twitter saying “I was walking past, post the concert and looking for my manager when he greeted and whipped out his phone for a picture. Being polite I absent ‘mindedly’ obliged  I’m definitely not a fan and I’m sorry I wasn’t present enough to say “FUCK OFF, no thanks.”
