A plethora of young exuberant minds descended upon trendy Starbucks in Rosebank, in celebration of YFM’s new talk show Y-Talks hosted by the award winning debator Oliver Dickson. The dynamic debator posed the following question to ignite the evening’s festivities: “Our struggle heroes fought for equality and the end of Apartheid, but what are today’s youth fighting for and who are our struggle hero’s in the age of retweet activism?”
Zola Valashiya served as the evening’s key note speaker, who declared that “The revolution will not be televised; the revolution will not be retweeted“. A wave of stimulating responses enveloped the room, giving us a rich and diverse interpretation of the topic.
A fact that many might not find too surprising, considering how Mr. Valashiya was among the few people to have been awarded the Washington Mandela Fellowship Program in 2017, which is a prestigious nod from the academic community. He’s also in The Mail and Guardian’s Top 200 young South African for the year 2017/2018. Impressive right?
The pool of guests gave us a wealth of insight and sparked endless conversation, which proves that Y-Talks is a much needed platform for such engaging content. Oliver Dickson is the perfect host to head such a platform as his radiant charm and engaging insight personifies #BlackBoyMagic and Previdar is unimaginably thrilled to experience more talk with him
Be sure to experience this magic on Y-Talk every Tuesday evening from 22:00 – 24:00 only on Yfm. Yona Ke Yona.
