Is marriage something you consider a ‘to-do’?

Yes. I do plan on getting married. I believe in the idea of union. My parents have been married for 40 years and have been together for 49 years. I’ve always been shown love and have had the example of love my whole life. That’s what normal is for me. I still want normal.

At a time where we are all one post away from being an overnight sensation, what do you consider success?

I consider a balance to be success. Being able to monetize your craft, all while managing your health, relationships, longevity, how you’re perceived etc. Success is when you have an understanding of all those elements.

2015 and the soon-to-end 2016 seems to be the rise of female rappers, how is the hip hop industry receiving them?

I think that female rappers have been well received, mainly because a number of them came correct. I do not think that any of the female rappers being mentioned today do not deserve it. They also do their best to show their individuality.

I stopped my pursuit of a B Com Accounting degree after having made the decision to focus on a career in music, because I did not want a plan B. Burning those bridges was important for me because I needed to commit to the highest level to my craft and passion. It’s all about knowing yourself. It was important for me to believe at that level before expecting everybody else to. Finally making that decision took a lot of prayer and self-reflection. I also didn’t wait until I was 100 percent sure because that day may have never come.

What’s that one admonition to give anyone who wants to get into showbiz? And what role does social media play?

Word to the wise? Keep working on your craft. That’s what is noticed with time. You’d much rather be ready for an opportunity than to fail when an opportunity arrives.I can’t really speak on the role of social media because we all have different opinions on it’s value. One thing we call all agree on is its importance. Social media is not going anywhere. It might be our new “real life”. I’m still trying to fully grasp and understand its level of value in my life and career. There is still a lot to be learned and understood.
