“48 HOURS OF RAVES FOR BRAVES”
A transitional collection from day to night, AW/18 Preview, represents the new Diesel wardrobe, embodying the brand’s renewed attitude, contemporary, international and bolder. Focusing on the continuing evolution of Diesel’s key pillars: denim, leather, outerwear and sweaters.
“Tokyo techno festival music scene is so vibrating and full of good energies, it seemed the perfect scenario for this collection. The entire inspiration comes from these vibes, so strong and distinctive perfectly matching Diesel spirit” says Nicola Formichetti the artistic director.
Sun-bleached acid pastels colors make the transition from summer to winter — together with stonewashed and bleached treatments on vintage denim round out the offerings. Authenticity is the mantra for the denim, where the journey towards the rediscovery of a more authentic denim reaches new frontiers. Certain washes are accented with red cotton thread in the hem, to mimic flames representing a “Raves for Braves”’ attitude. Fading to black, darker pieces and shades recall this raver attitude. Skinny, dark and moody, they speak to Diesel’s underlying rock spirit. Since a couple of seasons, Classic‘90s logos and slogans, including the distinctive “D”, the seminal slogan “Denim Division“ and the Mohican logo, are reintroduced all around the collection. Starting from our key pillars, and giving them a more contemporary attitude, where the vintage touch gets updated to modern shapes, and trends, creating a melting-pot of style that is fresh, versatile and relevant while staying true to our DNA.
Talking about denim, the male offer sees the entrance of Mharky, inspired by the punk-rock scene of the late 70s, it’s been designed to become a new important player in the skinny leg family, whilst for female, Aryel has a regular classic vintage style with straight cut hips and silhouette, and Diesel’s “mom jeans,” Alys is high-waisted that hugs the hips without squeezing.
The final touch to this collection, which speaks Diesel’s language to those braves who rave, is given by stellar accessories for both men and women. Next to the best -selling SKB, refreshed both in colours and materials with a new ankle-cut style, new unisex models like Danny and Clever complete the offer of sneakers, while the 355-Flip were thought for those cool kids, the millennials but not only. For her the most iconic boots of the season are the cowboy like: West and Flamingo while trekking inspiration is a key, appearing in laces and various details across both shoes’ and bags’ collections proposed as the new Cage.
Litt-her is the statement bag of the season, wearable both as a shopper or as oversized clutch enriched with a huge Diesel letter logo, the Mohican emblem and ironic messages. Super new-in for female bags category are the Miss- Match, where different finishing on hardware and different tape on shoulder straps, make these bags “perfectly imperfect”.
