November started on a high note with Soweto Fashion Week launching its Spring/ Summer 23/24 collections. The Soweto Theatre was turned into a fashion frenzy with the Be Beautiful Hair pink carpet rolled out for the guests. The three-day fashion week ran from November 2 – 4. Before the main event, a glamorous launch soirée was hosted where the media and VIP guests were introduced to some of the designers showcasing this season.

Day one saw emerging designers stealing the spotlight while day two and day three were just as exceptional. Day two was a mixture of emerging and established designers. Enhle Gebashe of Enhle Babes Couture was the first to showcase her stunning ready-to-wear collection, which will be available at Edgars stores this month.

Elias Sebata of Not Of This Earth (N.O.T.E) and Sibu Sithole of FDB Human Store, who have been showcasing at Soweto Fashion Week since its inception in 2011, were delighted to return for another season.

Making their Soweto Fashion Week debut was Nthabiseng Mabe of House of Cash,  Alison Versatile of Style By Ali, and Nkateko Maranele of Pieces Of Me (POM) Jeans, whose denim collection consisted of trendy pieces such as dungarees, bodysuits, coats, jackets and a head-turning denim xibelani (Tsonga skirt).

Fashion Brand ‘Versatile’ showcased their belief that clothes don’t have to be gender specific by taking pride in creating unisex garments.

Meanwhile, Mabe showcased their collection under the Emerging Designers Bloc, along with Tshegofatso by Design and Eden, Dreamin Fabrika Design. Be Beautiful Hair also showcased its latest hair trends.

Ahead, some of our favourite looks from the fashion extravaganza.
