“As this is the first time that Project Runway is taking place on African soil, this is a golden opportunity for Edgars to be associated with a show that shares so many of our core values,“ says Mike Elliott, Edgars Chief Executive. “We are one of the few fashion and beauty retailers that can claim to be proudly South African, so this is the perfect platform for us to show our support for the local designers of tomorrow,” Elliott adds.
Edgars has always been South Africa’s trusted fashion and beauty destination where South African consumers shop for their love of local and international brands, and hence supporting SA’s first fashion reality show was a natural fit.
In all its efforts of promoting, embracing and supporting local talent, Edgars is providing the weekly challenge looks that INSPIRE fashion and creativity in the show’s talent. These looks will be themed as per challenges selected by various sponsors and in the true Fashion Authority spirit, Edgars proved to deliver on each episode. The fashion on the inspiration wall is truly inspiring and one can only hope, will get the creative juices of the designers flowing. Edgars also supplied the footwear and accessories that completed the designers’ runway looks for all models, as selected by the designers themselves. Not to mention that the judge & fashion guru extraordinaire Gert Johan Coetzee and mentor – the delectable Lerato Kganyago will be dressed by Edgars throughout the show. The runway looks on Project Runway models as well as the beauty fixes and face beats of the panel of judges, mentor and host were supplied by Kelso Beauty, a beauty range that is truly South African and exclusively available at Edgars.
“As an iconic fashion brand it is our role to inspire fashion and create inspiration for all South Africans across all occasions. We pride ourselves on our extensive local brand offering and that’s why we wanted to work and support the best of what SA has to offer and ultimately the overall winner of Project Runway SA, will have a life changing opportunity to sell their range in our Edgars store,” says Elliott.
The first episode of Project Runway South Africa airs on Tuesday, the 10th July, 9pm on Mzansi Magic Channel 161.
