Gert-Johan Coetzee and Vodacom and Samsung have collaborated on an exclusive bespoke fashion, music, and tech collaboration to celebrate Coetzee’s new Spring/Summer ’22 collection. The showcase will take place at Vodacom World, the home of digital innovation, on Friday, September 30th, and will be an exemplary celebration of craftsmanship and creativity, with Gert performing as a headliner alongside Lerato Kganyago and the soulful J’Something. Coetzee used the rich symbolism behind the sunflower against the African sunset in his new collection offering to emphasize the importance of always following the sun in pursuit of great horizons. It is also known as “the happy flower,” and it reminds us to seek positivity and strength in all of our endeavors and personal pursuits.
Gert’s translation of the sunflower in this collection recalls childhood memories of vast lands filled with bright yellows and greens against a canvas with brush strokes in reds and blues, especially as the sun sets over the South African sky. The sunflower represents everything Gert-Johan Coetzee stands for happiness, unity, and constant inspiration to face the sun and see the good in everything.
