Rihanna at Bergdorf Goodman
Everyone in the fashion industry has been buzzing about Fenty Puma by Rihanna. Inspired by Japanese street-wear with a gothic undertone, Rihanna launched PUMA at Bergdorf Goodman; a luxury department store.
If you haven’t seen the documentary Scatter my ashes at Bergdorf’s, here’s a brief history. It is said that Bergdorf Goodman is where Grace Kelly ordered her wedding invitations; where Jacqueline Kennedy was outfitted for her dress for the Inaugural Ball; and where designers such as Halston, Michael Kors, and Isaac Mizrahi got their start.
Bergdorf is a legendary fashion mecca that captures the imagination, invites fantasy, and plays a central role in the history of New York society – think of what it may mean for a South African designer to have their garments at Luminace.
Their window displays have always been the best in the whole world, “Stylistically, Bergdorf’s windows hover in a time warp. We juxtapose the opulent with the madcap, the scholarly with the trippy. We are fascinated with raw materials and often develop these materials to a degree bordering on obsession” said Mr David Hoey, the senior director for visual presentation at Bergdorf Goodman.
