July Fever breaks out as Flying Fish adds even more flavour with Chilled Apple Launch!

Marked as the official start of the 2015 Vodacom Durban July, the event hosted at the Cargo Hold Aquarium took guests on an experience with a difference, while introducing the even more flavoursome variant.

This weekend, many jetted off to the Zulu Kingdom, Durban, to witness SA’s best thoroughbreds bolt down the home straight to the finish line of the Vodacom Durban July. South African Breweries’ first flavoured beer, Flying Fish, added an extraordinary twist to the highly anticipated event by launching its new variant, Chilled Green Apple at a star-studded affair.

Flying Fish introduced the flavoursome variant with a food-meets-beer pairing evening headlined by new kid on the block, Chef Nti Romaboa.

Some of the personalities spotted at the event included Busi, Tamara Dey, Nomuzi Mabena, Terry Pheto, Lizelle Wilson, Kay Sibiya and Mampho Brescia to mention but a few.

Hosted by MTV VJ Nomuzi Mabena and supported by YFM’s Ankle Tap on the decks, the Flying Fish Chilled Green Apple launch showcased that doing things a little different is the new cool.

“Flying Fish is a brand that prides itself on its ability to add the extra to ordinary experiences and escaping the mundane. We are excited to be adding even more flavour with our new variant, the Chilled Green Apple. We couldn’t be more pleased to be introducing this new innovation to our consumers,” said Flying Fish Marketing Manager, Leanne Martin.

Guests were shipped to a deep-sea diving experience, with the submerged shipwreck acting as a backdrop for the exclusive event. Local celebrities dined to the site of sharks and other water creatures backed by the unique and sophisticated ambiance.


The evening also highlighted the mash-up of the new Chilled Green Apple into a three-course meal dinner, curated by flavoursome Chef Nti Romaboa. Chef Nti explained that she was inspired by the refreshing taste of Chilled Green Apple, which allowed her to take guests on a culinary journey laden with all sorts of exotic flavours.

“It is quite exciting to see brands like Flying Fish continue to push boundaries and create more options for the flavoured beer category. We like choice and the Chilled Green Apple variant will be sitting right at the top of my bar collection, perfect for every occasion,” concluded Model and TV Star Kay Sibiya.

Flying Fish is currently available in Crushed Orange and Pressed Lemon variants.
