Karabo’s creation a show-stopper at the opening night of BudX Miami

Karabo Poppy customizes sneakers with the Power of Afro-Centric Creativity at BUDX Miami, Super Bowl Weekend LIV

Multi-award winning South African illustrator and street artist Karabo “Poppy” Moletsane earned her title as a king of creativity when she brought her specialized urban relevance and Afro-futuristic visuals to the opening of BUDX, Miami Super Bowl Weekend LIV last night.

Karabo seized the occasion by digging into her imagination and unique design vernacular as she transformed the blank canvases of white NIKE Airforce 1 sneakers into exciting collection pieces that captured the culture of hip-hop music and its unique relationship with sneakers, which have an important place in hip hop culture.

The BUDX, Miami Super Bowl Weekend LIV exploded into action last night with an exclusive “Mansion Party” featuring an incredible set by hip-hop legends De La Soul along with Karabo Poppy customizing sneakers while music legends Guns ‘n Roses rocked out later at the BUD LIGHT Music Fest.

Energized by the BUDX event itself, Karabo visually incorporated “The King of Beers” iconic colors: black; red and white into her designs smoothly combining her distinctive Afro-centric and Afro-futuristic visuals into an innovative narrative all in front of a live audience.

“This was an amazing experience to share and showcase a distinctive African design aesthetic to other equally amazing artists and creatives from all over the world. To combine my love of sneakers and pay homage to hip-hop culture as an important element in my design style, and tell a story from an African perspective at an event like BUDX, which celebrates Kings of Culture is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” said Karabo.
