The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week 2016 featured the very talented and much talked about, SCALO, for their annual fashion trends showcase that was held at the Nelson Mandela Square.

Founded in Johannesburg by Sello Medupe, Scalo works on the basis of passion and creativity, fused with the dynamism of a Johannesburg attitude.

SCALO is a recognised fashion designer who always delivers breath taking ensembles for the runway. The industry respects him for his ability to have always challenged the fashion forward enthusiasts. This year SCALO inspired the fashion week’s fashionistas with a Black and White; infused with Asian elements for the Tribal Future Theme.

Tribal Future is a metaphor for all different cultures coming together in the word of  fashion” SCALO passionately explained.


“This is the reason why I showed you the Asian influenced White and Black cocktail of dress sense that will have a remarkable culture unison  in the next fashion generation.” he added.

It is a modern sophisticated and futuristic brand. Revolutionizing shape is paramount to the brands philosophy which
brings out a great fit and a fluttering silhouette.

Sello is a young fashion designer who is the brain behind the brand: SCALO. He has been featured on the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week from 2011 to date. His profound story conveyed in his work on the runway puts him extensively ahead of his times and relevant in the fashion business. “The Tribal Future design represents all these cultures coming together in the next generation and the future to come because the language of fashion is universal.” SCALO concluded.
