God-fearing, hard-working, and loving. This is how astounding actress, Rosemary Zimu describes herself. From acing various acting roles throughout her career to dazzling red-carpets in breathtaking fashion ensembles, the acclaimed thespian’s star power is undeniable.
After discovering her passion for the performing arts at an early age, the actress immersed herself in both drama and music, where her talent quickly propelled her into the spotlight. Since then, Rosemary has starred in a plethora of films including Netflix’s fan favourite, ‘Savage Beauty’ where she portrayed the character of Zinhle, a femme fatale on a mission to destroy a beauty empire that ruined her childhood.
When she’s not gracing us with her formidable talent on the small screen, Rosemary enjoys exploring the great outdoors and spending quality time with her family. Multifaceted, the actress also cherishes opulence, with exquisite fragrances and chic eyewear being some of her guilty pleasures.
Rosemary Zimu is our ‘My Favourite Things’ feature for this week and she shares a list of ten things that she absolutely loves.
Perfume
I am obsessed with smelling good so I make sure to collect my favourite scents. I also like mixing my perfumes with cologne just for that extra ‘fafafa.’ *Laughs*
Eyewear
I am no fashionista, but I do love eyewear and how sunglasses can elevate an outfit. I collect sunglasses and I have an eyewear brand that has been on a break for a long time now, but I am working on bringing it back. The brand is called RZ Eyewear.
Basketball
I love sports. I played basketball throughout my high school years and I even played in varsity for the Jozi Nuggets who were in the JBL. I absolutely love watching the sport too and I was once a coach at St Peter’s College. Anything that has to do with the NBA or WNBA gets a ‘yes’ from me.
My job
I am so blessed to be doing what I love. Making people feel and heal and just learn through the arts is really part of what I live for. Being in front of the camera just gives me great energy and eventually, I do want to be directly behind the camera. But, only God knows when that will happen.
Music
Gospel music is my favourite but I do listen to other genres. I love listening to music and it writing too. I released an EP in 2016 titled ‘Roro Says.’ I love how music makes me feel and how it brings people together.
Fun activities
I am kind of an adrenaline junkie so anything that just gets my blood pumping is my idea of fun. *Laughs* Roller coasters, quad biking, fast cars, bridge swinging and the list is just endless.
Traveling
I have to leave the country at least twice a year. It is such a refreshing feeling and I love learning about other countries, different cultures, and meeting new people. It’s also a dream of mine to book an international job so planting the seeds in all the countries that I have visited is important to me.
My family
This is a pic of me and my siblings. I have a big family and I appreciate how we raise one another and love each other. My siblings inspire me to be better and grow into the best version of myself. God and my parents have truly blessed me with the most amazing best friends.
God
I love spending time with Him, praying, and meditating. He created me and continues to bless me. I’m the daughter of the Most High and I’m highly favoured. I’m so grateful for everything I have and pray that people never just see me without seeing God, His work, and His light through me.
Self-care
I love taking time off to take care of my mental health, body, and skin. I work so hard so I must always make time so I don’t lose myself. Face masks, books, tea, stretching, and good music help me a lot.
