My Favourite Things with Wiseman Zitha

Model, actor and influencer Wiseman Zitha continuously steps into his greatness with every project that he tackles. The 28-year-old, who is now casted in Mzansi Magic’s newest series Queen Modjadji, is not only a versatile creative but a style enthusiast – with a fashion sense and online influence that has garnered him thousands of followers.

 

Hailing from Limpopo, the star’s journey started straight after graduation – landing a leading role on South Africa’s very first Xitsonga TV series Giyani: Land of Blood straight after graduating from Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). He studied drama.

 

Since then, he has been bouncing from one television production to the other. With a fast moving career, Wiseman has definitely surpassed the new-kind-on-the-block title, with both feet firmly cemented in the entertainment industry.

 

Here are his 10 most favourite things that make him who he is.

 

Acting

 

Acting has not only liberated me but has allowed me to express myself in different ways. When I am acting, I view myself as a blank canvas and through the different roles that I portray I get to escape into different realities. It is both challenging and interesting. It is eye opening in that I get to tap into so many experiences.

 

Modelling

 

I grew up in the villages and being dark skinned, tall and skinny was always shunned upon. That makes one feel self-conscious but when I was approached by some modeling agency while in 1st year that was interested in working with me I started to believe that I am good looking. They referred to me as a rough diamond and literally gave me tips on how to elevate my beauty, going to the gym, how to elevate my style etc. and that was the turning point of how I perceived myself. Modeling made me accept myself more, it shaped the person that a lot of people have come to love today.

 

Being creative

 

When I found my inner creative, I think I started accepting a lot of things about me. I believe I am really weird LOL and many things that I do, especially with my modeling, push the envelope. And I don’t struggle with it, my looks, my content, my ideas – are all organic. I am a creative being because everything about me speaks of creativity.

 

Good pasta

 

Listen, I can have pasta all day everyday. Whether it is seafood pasta, meat – as long as it’s pasta, I am happy. I just love pasta.

 

Family

 

I love my family because of how supportive we are towards each other. They are my backbone and they ground me so much in everything that I do. I talk to my mom and stepdad every single day. My siblings are my best friends. But also, for me, my family validates me so much that even when I am not feeling 100% and not confident, because we are human at the end of the day, they are able to speak life into me. My mother reminds me everyday of my greatness, that I walk with God, that I am talented, that I am different and wonderfully made. With their support, I always feel confident. I carry them with me everywhere, their words, their love.

 

 

Good bubbles

 

As long as it’s a good bottle, I am there! I am not that picky but I appreciate a good bottle with good food.

 

Traveling

 

Traveling has opened my eyes so much that I am more appreciative of how diverse we are as human beings. You start cutting through these social constructs, like that English is a measure of intelligence, and appreciate yourself and your home language more. When you travel you learn how others do life, you appreciate what you have but also, when I’m in a plane – I get to appreciate how BIG God is. It gives you such an illuminated view of how great and majestic God is to have created what it is that you are seeing. So even when you pray, you understand who you are praying to. So traveling is just so fulfilling.

 

Fashion

 

My fashion sense is very daring, very unapologetic. I love to be a trendsetter, I love to make people uncomfortable with my adventurous looks that take a lot of confidence to pull off. Leaving home wearing a corset as a guy, long shoes, it all takes confidence to pull off. With fashion, I express myself fully, I get to play, I flex my creativity, I become whomever I want to be at any given moment. And I have come to accept that I am an acquired taste, not everyone will agree with my choice of style, and that’s okay.

 

Gym

 

Gym for me is therapy. When I am there, I get to escape. I walk in, put my music on and I get to be in solitude with myself. It is a place where I talk to God, I think about plans and I feel like my creative juices are activated there. Gym also played a big part of my body transformation so it’ll always have a special place in my life.

 

Music

 

I am a huge fan of music especially on how it can influence so many things. When you watch a film, the music is so important in shaping whichever scene and I have seen how music can do the exact same thing with your day and your life. My music palate is broad but I personally love gospel and Nigerian music a lot.

 

I am currently stuck on the artist Victor Thompson, his latest album titled Blessed has been on repeat since the end of last year. His songs carry so much meaningful  message, his songs are encouraging and that is my jam. My favourite song is Carry Me like Baby and that reminds me of my God and the relationship that I have with Him. Victor Thompson is just that guy right now.
