UJ Department of Fashion & Convoy Collaborative Project
An exciting event which was well attended by many eager fashion shoppers and industry insiders as well as proud family and friends of the students.
Third year Fashion Production students have been working collaboratively with Lesley Whitter, part-owner and Heart & Heritage designer, on a capsule collection which will be sold exclusively at the Convoy store in Melville, Johannesburg.
On the evening of June 15th the Third year Fashion Production students from the University of Johannesburg launched their capsule collection at Convoy, Bamboo Centre in Melville, Johannesburg.
This was an exciting event which was well attended by many eager fashion shoppers and industry insiders as well as proud family and friends of the students.
After many weeks of hard work, the students were ready to set up, and were warmly welcomed by Convoy co-owner Lesley Whitter, UJ Fashion alumni who was recently named the winner of the SAFW Lufthansa 1st Best Collections competition.
The students worked extremely well together as a team in order to make the event as memorable as possible. Not only did the students learn about how to go about producing a collection, but also gained valuable insight into the marketing and launching of a collection. This included securing champagne sponsorship from Morgenhof estate for the event.
It was a chilly Joburg winter evening, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all and many items from the stunning student collection were sold within the first couple of hours.
