Zonke Dikana has come to the rescue of a student who almost gave up on her studies due to lack of funds to continue with her studies. Bubu Sithole was already packing her bags and ready to go back home because she owed R29 000.00 towards her studies and needed about R17 000.00 to register provisionally. This comes after Bubu tried all avenues to get financial assistance; Bubu was rejected by both NSFAS and MEC for Education in Freestate before Zonke came to her aid and offered to keep her in school.
Went to the MEC for Education in Freestate and they said they cannot help me because I’m from Johannesburg. I applied for a fundi eduloan it was declined. I’m gonna send through an appeal for Nsfas again this year. My heart aches so much, I just wanted to go to school. That’s all— Bubu Sithole (@Bubus_s) February 6, 2020
January and Februay are usually the hardest times for students in South Africa, with more students returning home due to lack of funds to pursue their studies. The finacial aid that’s currently available does not manage to help every student, making it impossible for a lot of hopeful students to have faith in their future.
However, this heart aching moment did not last long for Bubu; this is after Zonke saw her tweet and offered to keep her in school by paying the outstanding amount
